Creative Arts for Life

PAM sought out to meet a need in our community by providing meaningful art programs to seniors using skilled and experienced instructors. Classes consists of art instruction and are offered in eight class sessions. Participants do not need to have experience and talented individuals are also welcome. The goal is to bring seniors out of their homes to learn new art forms and make new friends. A nominal fee is collected to cover materials and instructor salaries for all eight classes. Each session ends with the participants "performing or exhibiting" what they learned in their class with a display of their art.

Collaboration with local venues and community groups has provided CAL the space to grow its classes as well as space for the celebration event at the conclusion of the semester.

The Senior art instruction is not currently scheduled. We thank Lucy Medford for her years of service as Director of CAL!

Creative Arts for Life (CAL) is a program offered by Performing Arts Matter. CAL provides professionally taught classes to older adults. Classes meet weekly for 8 consecutive weeks for art instruction with local artists. Classes begin September and February from 11am-1PM. These professionally trained artists lead classes with 2 hours of instruction per week.  Tuition includes supplies selected by the teaching artist for each project. This makes it easy for older adults to participate and ensures that the materials support the planned curriculum. At the end of the 8-week semester, a performance/exhibit occurs. This performance gives the student artist a goal to achieve.

Enrollment is based upon space availability.
